I live on a little backstreet right by the metro, very convenient. I have six apartment-mates and one roomie. The washing machine is in the kitchen, right next to the fridge, we have no dryer, no dishwasher, no oven. I am stuck with anything I can make in a microwave or on a burner! (It's not that bad though, I'm pretty creative and I've even made some bomb diggity stir fry already!) There is a towel warmer in the Bathroom, it is pretty cool! (well its actually warm ;p)
The supermarket is interesting here. Buying foods such as milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese is hard! There are so many times, some thick, some sour! I can't read the labels. I thought I was buying cottage cheese, but it turned out to be rice pudding... deceiving picture on the container! Bottled water was hard to find at first because everyone drinks sparkling water here. Someone said only prisoners drink flat water! I now know that neperliva voda is the kind I want! (non sparkling)
I'm really enjoying the czech intensive course that I've been taking. It is 3 credits in 2 weeks! 9-1 (weekdays). It's really helping me figure out how to get places, ask for directions, ask someone to dance, say how I feel, and order food! (etc.)
(I didn't explain how fakt, jo sounds like f*** you. It translates to no kidding, you serious, really, etc...)
- Czech drivers dont seem to know how to use their blinker or follow the speed limit, I recommend never trying to cross without a crosswalk unless you have a death wish!
- There is a TON of PDA here; you can tell people are in relationships because they are inseparable, literally. If you are in a relationship it is okay to kiss and be all lovey dovey on the escalator, the metro, and all over in public! Not really my cup of tea.
- There are dogs everywhere!!! Dobre pes! (good dog) They ride the escalator, metro and are very well behaved (as far as I've seen).
Tried sauerkraut for the first time, it's not bad.
